South Tarn Gites

The house and gardens are impeccable - this is a really excellent place to stay...for a holiday that is relaxing but with scope for leisure activities like swimming / water parks, cycling, canoeing, fishing and interesting walking on the doorstep. The proximity to Castres...was another real bonus (as) it has excellent shopping facilities and plenty to entertain children or adults.
Tom and Sheda have been incredibly good hosts... Tom's cooking was one of the highlights of the visit and Sheda's aromatherapy another.
We all enjoyed the holiday immensely and we'd all be very happy to visit again... we'd happily recommend it to anyone.

What a wonderful time we have spent with you. The gite is beautiful, comfortable, everything to make you enjoy your stay. Thank you so much for the wonderful food cooked by Tom and also the aromatherapy massage, which made me feel so much more relaxed. You have been great hosts and so helpful with information about the area, what to see and where to go... Thank you again. 10/10

This has been my home in the Tarn for the last few weeks .....  your attention to detail and passion for getting it right have made this the most comfortable gite I've stayed in...

Other guests may enjoy:-

  • walk down the lanes to empty fields just before dusk to watch the hares.

  • The "aligot (cheesy mash) available in local markets

  • Revel market on Saturday mornings - spectacular!

  • The little cathedral at Lavaur.

  • Head over the Montagne Noir to Saissac and its Chateau ruins.

I hope to return soon.

We have had a truly wonderful stay here in the Tarn.... outstanding hospitality and warm welcome showed to our children.... Thank you for everthing, for all the culinary treats (best jam in France!), eggs, delicious tomatoes... We have loved the gite, which is well equipped, and the garden, is the perfect spot for relaxation.

Bonne continuation.

Thank you for helping make our stay so wonderful!  You went way beyond what would have been expected in terms of generosity and helpfulness.  We really appreciated your kindness - especially in regard to the twins.  The gite is lovely as well.  The best we have stayed in.  We will all miss it here!  Best wishes.

Thanks very much for everything you did to make our week enjoyable.  Thjanks for your advice on places.  Recommend the cycle route to eCastres/Albi.  It is a lovely cycle.   Also the visit to the Gorges du Tarn was excellent and we did a fab kayak up there, but it is a day trip as they are about 2 hours away.  Good luck with the gites for the future and thanks again for everything.

What a great holiday:  perfect peace and a great welcome here, and just so much to see all around.  From sunflowers to preying mantis, from underground caves to cathedrals.  Thank you indeed to Tom and Sheda for giving us the ideal spot at the heart of our holidays.  Recommend Toulouse it was a super city, at the other extreme Conques Abbaye (Ste Foy).  Minerve also fascinating as was Albi's Cathedral, St Cecile's.

First of all thanks for being great hosts.  My stay in Southern Tarn, or your "Toscanini", was most enjoyable and fruitful.  The location is excellent, the gite pleasant and beautiful, yet the best is beyond any doubt the sunset view over the hills from the garden; peaceful and breathtaking; real and surreal at the same time.  I wish both of you all the best and that you may enjoy your French, but above all "free" way of life.

Wilbert, Amsterdam

A very comfortable gite, with helpful friendly hosts.  This is a wonderful area for cycling for all abilities; the cycling piste or the hills.  Thanks.

What a haven of peace and tranquility!  The perfect place to unwind - we feel very unwound now!

The gite is wonderful, very well equipped and comfortable.  The garden is like a series of rooms - a magical place!

Tom and Sheda are the perfect hosts - very welcoming and caring!  If you get the chance try Tom's "Chicken George" - superb!

The area surrounding Loustalbiel is full of interesting towns and villages - Lautrec obviously, but also Lavaur and Revel (to name but three)  and the countryside is, well, French!!  We shall have to return when the sunshine is here all time!!  Also, when the sunflowers are in bloom.  Off now to sit in the garden again, with a glass of red!!

Sue and John, Derbyshire

Thank you so much for introducing us to more of the French way of life .... Our home for this past week has been enchanting... A little piece of heaven.

We have loved the peace and tranquility of this little hamlet and appreciate the obvious care; attention to detail and sheer hard work that has gone into making - or transforming - the gite from a cow shed into something quite special.

Thank you also for the warm welcome; the homely touches, your advise and guidance, the fantastic aromatherapy massage and the great evening spent with you and your friends.

A thank you must also be extended to Blue, Bowie, Sarkozy, and Carla and the rest of the ladies for adding colour to our holiday memories.  We are sure to return and see you again.

What a beautiful locatio!  (even in the winter on grey days!)  So much to see from beautiful rugged landscapes of the Sidobre and Montagne Noire to beautiful Ville Centres and in between museums and art galleries and not forgetting the marchés.  Thank you Tom and Sheda for welcoming us to your home ..... your gîte was excellent.  Beautifully decorated and equipped.  The log burner kep us more than warm and kept the whole gîte cosy - all through the night too!
